EXCISION
Keloid Excision is a procedure that aims to remove keloids. When skin is injured, fibrous tissue called scar tissue forms over the wound to repair and protect the injury. In some cases, extra scar tissue grows, forming smooth, hard growths called keloids. Keloids can be much larger than the original wound. They’re most commonly found on the chest, shoulders, earlobes, and cheeks. Although keloids aren’t harmful to your health, they may create cosmetic concerns hence the patient's desire for removal.
How is Keloid Excision performed?
First the area is numbed to prevent any discomfort, then the surgeon will excise the keloid in the safest way possible while minimizing the possibility of any recurrence. It is recommended to keep pressure applied to the area after surgical removal to prevent the keloid from returning.
Keloid Excision can benefit:
- People who have developed a keloid and would like it removed.
