HARD BREAST IMPLANTS
ABOUT
After breast augmentation surgery, your immune system will respond to the foreign materials inserted into your chest. Your body builds a “capsule” around each breast implant. The capsule is made from interwoven collagen fibers, or scar tissue. In some cases, the capsule tightens over time. This is called capsular contracture.
When this happens, the collagen “fabric” around the implant shrinks due to a buildup in fibers. This tightening can squeeze the implant, making it feel hard and painful to touch.
OUR RECOMMENDATION
At CK Plastic Surgery we are able to correct capsular contracture by replacing the breast implant:
Breast Revision Surgery
Breast revision surgery commonly involves the replacement or removal of implants. Patients who are not satisfied with their breast size or implant type can have their breasts corrected through the revision. Also, for patients who may have had complications from previous breast augmentations, such as capsular contracture, revision surgery is necessary. The overall goal is to produce healthy and youthful breasts.
